We're glad you're here.

Like the members of the  Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica, ours is a caring, open-eyed staff that comes from many religions, identities, and social positions.

Our vibrant Lifespan Religious Education program helps children and youth develop spiritual curiosity and compassion in the embrace of a loving multigenerational community. Within our diversity, there are some things that unite us: We believe in every person’s inherent worth and dignity. We believe in deepening our sense of connection with one another and our understanding of the awe and wonder of life. And we believe deeply in the importance of work for justice in this world.

Rev. Jeremiah Kalendae

Rev. Jeremiah Kalendae serves as our Developmental Minister. Before arriving in Santa Monica, Jeremiah spend a decade ministering with congregations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He has served as a congregational minister, community minister, chaplain, and as a member of the adjunct faculty at our Unitarian Universalist theological school in Berkeley. There he taught multireligious theology and philosophy and counter-oppressive social change. He holds a Master of Divinity degree in theology and ministry from Starr King School for the Ministry, a Master of Social Work degree from Case Western Reserve University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Baldwin-Wallace University. In addition to being a Unitarian Universalist minister, Jeremiah is a dervish in the Chishtī Order of Sufism. His spiritual background includes Hinduism, Buddhism, Earth-based, and Humanistic spiritualities. In his free time, he enjoys being in nature and, especially, near the ocean, yoga, meditation, social justice activism, vegan cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
